Montegrappa WILD: Savannah Sunset. Solidarity Limited Edition.

In 2017 zijn Helene en Uri Lovevild Golman bruut aangevallen tijdens hun expeditie reis in Gabon. Voor Uri heeft het moment van de aanval een lang herstel opgeleverd. Jaren later is hij nog steeds aan het rehabiliteren, onder begeleiding van zijn vrouw Helle. Vanaf hun woonplaats in Denenmarken runt dit koppel wildlife fotografen de WILD Nature Foundation. Hiermee zetten zij zich in om onze (nog altijd mooie) wereld te 're-wilden'. Net als hen gelooft Montegrappa erin dat, wanneer iedereen zich laat horen, de wereldleiders aangespoord worden om onze wereld te beschermen.

Following the WILD: Baobab pen from 2020, the WILD: Savannah Sunset marks the second Montegrappa writing edition created in collaboration with the National Geographic explorers and photographers. Its spirit and purpse supports their work with the WILD Nature Foundation.


Helle & Uri Lovevild Golman, July 2021: "Africa is in our hearts. Here we feel at home: in the lush jungles, in warm deserts under starlit skies, and on the vast grassland plains known as the savannah...""...it is at day's end that the savannah comes into its own. Under the setting equatorial sun, a feast of colour bathes the landscape in hues of yellow, orange, red and pink. The warmth of Africa's love is painted in the sky."

The WILD: Savannah Sunset uses an exclusive blend of Montegrappote artisanal resin to evoke the exotic colours and moods of the African savannah at dusk. Strands of yellow, orange and red resin have been blended with black and ivory to realise its striking finish.

Mementos of Helle and Uri's life together are embedded into the hardware featured in the edition's design. A machine-engraved replica of the couple's WILD Explorer expedition patch caps each example with the couple's motto: "What you love, you will protect." The edition's distinctive pocket-clip is modelled on a wing dfeather fron the Snowy Owl. A tattoo on Uri's forearm honours this Arctic bird of prey, and the first gift exchanged between the couple. Together, their work has led them to the most remote locations on all continents. The juxtaposition of Nordic and African motifs is a reminder that habitat depletion is a crisis of global proportions.
