Waterman Paris Pens

Waterman Fountain Pen

The Waterman fountain pen was the first modern fountain pen, as we know today. The ink is guided from the ink cartridge to the pen point by gravity and the capillary principle. This creates a continuous flow of ink, so the fountain pen no longer needs to be dipped in ink and the writer can keep writing non-stop. It is, therefore, not surprising that the Waterman company is known for its fountain pens, each one designed and produced with passion and craftsmanship.

Waterman fountain pens are known for the very pleasant writing experience they offer. This is because the nibs are made from the finest materials, including 18-carat pure gold. Moreover, each pen is hand-tested.

Waterman Ballpoint Pen

While Waterman Paris initially struggled to accept the declining popularity of the fountain pen, Waterman also started manufacturing their ballpoint pens in 1949. These only cost €1 at the time! Nowadays, Waterman ballpoint pens are available in different editions and colors, so there is always a suitable ballpoint pen for you. The ink is fed to the ballpoint through a ball in the pen point. The ball is in direct contact with the ink in the ink cartridge. As you write, the ball rotates and transfers the ink to the paper. The ballpoint pen is known for its easy use: they hardly ever leak or scratch, resulting in neat handwriting and paper that doesn't tear.

Waterman Rollerball

At first glance, a Waterman rollerball and the ballpoint pen look very similar. However, they differ in terms of handling and ink. Where ballpoint pens use oil-based ink, rollerball pens use water-based ink. Therefore, the ink from a rollerball will penetrate the paper more quickly. Even though you don't need to apply as much pressure on a rollerball as on a ballpoint pen, you still get a nice continuous ink flow. The writing experience of a rollerball pen is therefore similar to that of a fountain pen. This is why enthusiasts with a passion for the art of writing often prefer a rollerball pen over a regular ballpoint pen.

Waterman Mechanical Pencil

While sharpening a normal graphite pencil creates a mess and will eventually run out, with a Waterman mechanical pencil, this is not the case. A mechanical pencil, like other pens, has a refill surrounded by a casing. However, the filling of a mechanical pencil does not consist of ink, but of a mixture of graphite and clay: the same refill as a regular pencil. 

While most mechanical pencils have a button to reveal more refill, a Waterman mechanical pencil operates through a twist mechanism. A mechanical pencil is ideal for those who love drawing and sketching.

The Materials of Waterman Pens

A Waterman pen is always crafted from the best materials. Think, for example, of 18 and 23 karat gold, silver, palladium, resin, and high-quality lacquer. The lacquer finish ensures that the pens are protected from damage but also gives the pen their beautiful shine. Waterman Refills

As with any other pen, the ink in your Waterman pen will eventually run out. When this happens, you can easily refill it with Waterman refills. A ballpoint or rollerball pen is simply refilled by replacing the old ink cartridge with a refill. These are available in various colors. You can refill a Waterman fountain pen in several ways.

Waterman Inkwell

The traditional way to refill a fountain pen is through the ink in a Waterman inkwell. This fountain pen ink is available in different colors, including blue, red, and of course black. Refilling a fountain pen with ink from an inkwell is not the easiest method, but it is an environmentally friendly one. This is because you have less waste with an inkwell than with an ink cartridge.

Waterman Converter

One way to get ink from an inkwell into your fountain pen is by using a Waterman converter. Waterman converters are compatible with most Waterman fountain pens and work through a piston system:

1. You turn the piston down;
2. Click the converter into your fountain pen, just as you would with an ink cartridge;
3. Dip your fountain pen with the nib in the ink;
4. Turn the piston back up;
5. Your fountain pen is now filled with ink, and you can start writing again.

Waterman Ink Cartridge

Refilling your fountain pen is made easy by the ready-to-use Waterman ink cartridges. You simply click these into your fountain pen, and you are ready to write again. The Waterman fountain pen ink cartridges are available in different colors and in two different lengths: short or long. It just depends on what ink color you prefer to write with!
