A new addition to the Great Characters collection by Montblanc. This time, a tribute to Walt Disney, who's name is forever connected to the art of animation video and the American film history. An imperium of unthinkably big proportions is the result of his progressiveness and inventive methods of animation and film making.


The Montblanc Great Characters Walt Disney Limited Edition 1901 is limited to 1901 pieces whcich refers to the year of Walt Disney's birth. The groundbreaking multiplane camera invented by Disney is decipted on the cap in lacquer inlays with platinum-coated parts. On  the barrel you wil see an Mickey Mouse design with a flickering scanimation effect when rotated. Mickey Mouse appeared in Walt Disney's first film "Steamboat Willie" in 1928. This film, which is also famous for its use of synchronised sound, inspired the smokestack shape of the platinum-coated clip. The fountain pen has a rhoidum-coated nib, made of Au 750 solid gold. The nib is decorated with an engraving if the inconic Mickey Mouse. 

Every once in a while Montblanc brings in wonderful new editions to the Great Characters line, and this time the outstanding brand has succeeded once again. Of course not to be missed, this edition is an ode to the one and only King of Rock and Roll: Elvis Presley. As stated by Montblanc, he was "one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century".

The pen's striking body is composed of black precious resin with silver and solid gold detailing. Moreover, Elvis had a particular interest of V8 engines, which is why the pen is inspired by the car engine's spark plug. Exemplary, for the V-shaped clip, inspiration had been taken from Elvis' interest in Cadillac's featuring V8 engine systems. Additionally, the clip is finished with his initials: "EP".

As for the refined structure of the barrel, it refers back to the the golden ring Elvis had worn during the "Aloha from Hawaii" music concert which aired in 40 different countries in Europe and Asia.

Furthermore, the nib is made of Au 750 solid gold, and is decorated with an embossed alligator pattern. It is available in Fine, Medium and Broad.

Every year since 1992, Montblanc has honoured an influential patron of art from the antiquity to the 20th century, with a limited edition writing instrument. Every Patron of Art Limited Edition underscores Montblanc’s belief that arts and culture are an essential part of any thriving society and can only flourish with the support of dedicated patrons. For its 30th (1992 – 2022) and final edition, Montblanc created a double edition, celebrating the lives and legacy of British monarch Victoria and her consort Albert.

This writing instrument marks the early years of the royal couple with a barrel in pearl-white lacquer, a symbol of purity and youth, and a cone embellished with a traditional Victorian pattern as well as the entwined “V&A” monogram, in which the couple liked to unite their initials.

The edition dedicated to Victoria features a cap in translucent mint-green lacquer, one of her favourite colours to wear. The decorative pattern visible beneath the lacquer of the cap is inspired by the fence surrounding the Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens, London. The cap is adorned by a royal-blue crown and the Montblanc emblem in precious resin. The words “I will be good” are engraved on the cap ring. The shape of the clip is inspired by her sceptre with a green stone referring to her engagement ring from Albert. The handcrafted Au 750 solid gold, champagne-tone gold-coated nib is decorated with a stylised rose that represents Queen Victoria, who is still remembered today as ‘England’s Rose’.

The writing instrument is restricted to 4810 pieces, which represents the height of the Mont Blanc mountain in metres.

Thomas Mann’s masterpiece “Buddenbrooks” has brought him immortality and has turned him into one of the most famous writers of the 20th century. "Once upon a time..."

The Montblanc Writers Edition Homage to Brothers Grimm is dedicated to Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm and celebrates their work on German and European folk tales among which are some of the most famous fairy tales such as "Snow White", "Cinderella" and "Sleeping Beauty".

The overall silhouette of the writing instrument is shaped like an old hiking stick and the Black colour resembles the darkness of the woods which usually serve as the main stage for the Brothers Grimm ́s folklore. In addition, the wave-like pattern on the cap and barrel is inspired by Rapunzel ́s hair while also resembling roots as the Brothers Grimm viewed their linguistic work as "research into roots".

The cap is crowned by the Montblanc Emblem in precious resin. The platinum-coated clip, reminiscent of a knobby piece of wood, surprisingly reveals the silhouette of the profile of the Brothers Grimm when turned.

As an homage to the magic of storytelling, the handcrafted Au 750 solid gold nib with rhodium coating bears flames which were often the setting around which folklore stories were passed on.

The Writers Edition 2013 pays tribute to the French novelist and playwright who contributed an opus of nearly 100 novels and plays to world literature of the 19th century - Honoré de Balzac. Inspired by the Dandyism of the 19th century and the elegance of Balzac, the precious black resin and grey lacquer of the barrel, with its guilloché refinement, references the typical cutaway favoured by refined Parisian gentlemen. While the oversized shape of the pen mirrors Balzacʼs bold stature, the clip embellished with turquoise lacquering on its top symbolises the author’s walking cane. The platinum and gold-coated rings refer to the different classes that emerged in French society in the early 19th century - often a central theme in the works of Balzac.

This is the famous opening sentence of the Iliad, the classical Greek epic poem by Homer (8th century BC). To Homer, the founder of Western literature, Montblanc dedicated the Writers Edition of 2018. The barrel of this impressive rollerball has the shape of a horse, thereby referring to the Trojan horse. The Iliad tells how the Greek soldiers conquered Troy by hiding inside a big, wooden horse, which was presented to the Trojans as a gift. Once the horse was taken inside the city, the Greeks got out and overpowered their surprised enemies. Thereby, this writing instrument also is an ode to Odysseus, the great mythological heroe who came up with the idea of the Trojan horse.

The shape and size of this unique rollerball are based on the iconic 149-model of Montblanc. The clip has the shape of a spear, which refers to the Trojan War and the famous armor of Achilles. Both the clip and the fittings are champagne gold coated. Both the barrel and cap of the pen are made of matt black precious resin, and on the top of the cap is the Montblanc emblem.
