  • This pen is part of the 'Around the World in 80 Days' collection by Montbanc. This line celebrates the succes of this famous novel written by Jules Verne. The novel was published in 1873 and it covers the adventures of Phileas Fogg and Jean Passepartout. However, not only does the book tell the story of Phileas and Jean, it also marks a historical moment in time, namely the transport revolution in the 19th century.

The writing instrument captures the story of the Around the World in 80 Days Journey, from London to Bombay. There are several elements located on the pen that are derived from this journey. The card suits symbol on the clip refers to the card games Fogg played at the Reform Club and the wager he made of twenty thousand pounds saying that he would be able to travel around the world during these days. Also, on the cap ring "18 DAYS" is engraved, reflecting on the amount of days it took for the first stage of the journey.

Furthermore, the laser engraved steamboat and waves on the pen represents the crossing of seas during the first part of the journey. As for the nib, the hot air-balloon shows Verne's overall fascination with travel and is also a symbol that reflects on his other novel "5 Weeks in a Balloon". Lastly, the color Indigo Blue is a result of mixing London Purple with Mediterranean Sea blue, a brilliant way of translating Verne's story into a writing instrument.

The fountain pen is in LeGrand size and is made of lacquer, the resin classique, with platinum coated fillings. The nib consists of Au585 solid gold and is rhodium coated.

Looking for a Montblanc pen for sale? You have come to the right place. The rich history of the company and the elegant yet strong appearance make Mont blanc pens a writing utensil that every important person should have on his or her desk. In addition, writing by hand leaves a lasting impression on the recipient of the letter you've written. An email is typed in a flash; there’s no personality in it. A letter written by hand, of course with a Montblanc pen, shows the recipient that you've put time and effort into the letter. Writing with such an extraordinary pen ensures that you leave a lasting and above all a positive impression.

Montblanc pen collections

Since its foundation, this brand has released several collections. Because of the different designs in these collections, there really is a suitable pen for everyone. For the design of the different collections, inspiration is taken from the rich history of the company, modern revolutions, and great names in the history of arts, politics, and literature. You can also find vintage Montblanc pens, pens made in a beautiful vintage style. In our wide range, you can find Montblanc Meisterstück pens, Starwalker ballpoint pens, and more collections!

Montblanc fountain pen

A fountain pen, as we know it today, uses capillarity and gravity to guide the ink from the cartridge to the nib. This brand is known for Montblanc fountain pens with timeless and luxurious designs. P.W. Akkerman has several fountain pens in its range, including the Meisterstück collection. If you value the art of writing, where quality is paramount, a Montblanc fountain pen should be part of your writing tool collection.

Montblanc Ballpoint pen

A ballpoint pen is a pen that transfers the ink from the cartridge to the paper by means of a ball in the nib. In 1938 László Biró patented this groundbreaking invention. In addition to the world-famous fountain pens, our range also includes beautiful Montblanc ballpoint pens. New luxury ballpoint pens are regularly released, which are characterized by great figures in the world and literary history. Think for example of John F. Kennedy or great names in writing cultures such as Virginia Woolf and Rudyard Kipling. So there is always a suitable Montblanc ballpoint pen for you.

Montblanc pen refills

Unfortunately, your pen will run out of ink at some point. When this is the case, it can be refilled in different ways. It's most common nowadays to refill your pen with a ready-made ink cartridge, but a Montblanc fountain pen can also be refilled with a converter and an ink bottle. In the P.W. Akkerman assortment, you will find plenty of Montblanc pen refills, such as ink cartridges and inkwells. Besides Mont blanc fountain pen refills there are also many other pen refills, for example, ballpoint and rollerball refills.

Montblanc lifestyle

Next to the Montblanc pen you can also buy, for example, a new leather Montblanc wallet.  In these wallets, you can store your credit cards, banknotes, and often also your coins. Besides wallets, you will also find various bags and trolleys. These bags and trolleys have plenty of space for all your possessions, like an extra compartment for your laptop or tablet. In short: everything you need to travel in style!

About the Montblanc pen

In 1906, the Hamburg banker Alfred Nehemias and the Berlin engineer August Eberstein came up with the idea for a new fountain pen. It was to be the epitome of simplicity, easy to handle, and simple to use. This new pen has a built-in ink reservoir, which soon made messing about with ink and inkwells a thing of the past. After about two years, the company of Nehemias and Eberstein was taken over by Wilhelm Dziambor, Christian Lausen, and Claus Johannes Voss. For the time being, the company was called Simplo Filler Pen Co.; it was not until 1909 that the name Montblanc was linked to the company and in 1910 it was registered as a trademark under that name.
